PORT WINE POACHED PEAR AND CRAISINS®  FLAN WITH BRIE LATTICE

Perfect balance of sweet and savory.

Ingredients:

  • 4 - Pie Crust (4 Inch)
    5 - Eggs
    1/2 Cup - All-Purpose Flour
    1/2 Cup - White Sugar
    2 Teaspoons - Almond Extract
    1/4 Cup - Melted Butter
    1/2 Cup - Craisins® Dried Cranberries
    16 - Strips of Brie (Slice in 4” Lengths)
    2 - Pears (Peeled & Cored) Cut in Half
    1 Cup - Port Wine
    1 Cup - Red Wine
    1/2 Cup - Brown Sugar

  • SERVING SUGGESTIONS
    Place the flan in the centre of the plate and drizzle the reduced port wine glaze around the flan

Directions:

Place the pears,port wine and red wine together in a sauce pot and on medium heat cook the pears for 3 minutes. Remove the pears and place them in the fridge

  • Add the brown sugar to the liquid and reduce on high heat by half or until it becomes a “sticky” consistency remove from the heat and keep for later
