Ocean Spray – Garnish Ideas

A garnish can turn a simple drink into a cocktail experience.  With the availability of fruits and herbs from around the world, the possibilities are endless.

Fruits – Citrus

Twists, wheels, half wheels, wedges – citrus doesn’t have to be boring ~ zest it up!

Make a striped wedge by zesting around a lemon in strips, them cut the fruit into 1/8 wedges.

Make a burnt orange twist ~ using a sharp knife, cut a thin, oval shape twist (3/4 inch x 1 ½ inch).  Hold the orange piece between thumb and forefinger, skin side facing down over top of the drink.  Hold a lit match or lighter between the twist and the drink.  Squeeze the orange towards the flame; the oils from the skin will spark as they pass through the flame, adding aroma and fruit essence to the drink.

Skewer them, freeze them in ice cubes, or just toss them in ~ fresh or frozen berries are always a treat!
